Introducing Duncan, new Landlord of the Parrot, Forest Green.

The Parrot recently shut its doors to enable Brunning and Price to take over and sensitively refurbish the pub, marrying up the old with the new before it reopens on the 11th December, just in time to welcome everyone for their Christmas festivities.

Duncan Moore will be at the helm when it reopens, along with his wife Nikki and their beloved cocker spaniel Bo. Duncan originally hails from Hull but moved south many moons ago in order to flourish in his career as a manager of all sorts of hospitality venues, from sports bars to late night venues. After 8 years managing the Crooked Billet for Young’s he is thrilled to be settling down in Forest Green. When not behind the bar, Duncan has a passion for Rugby League (as do all true Yorkshireman we are told), but his love of beer and red wine soon bring him back to where he truly belongs. Once the dust settles, both he and Nikki are keen to move in as soon as possible in order to start meeting their neighbours and make the most of the beautiful local walks that they can enjoy with Bo.

Duncan says ‘’Opening so close to Christmas will be brilliant as it means we will get to meet so many of the local community who we hope will join us in order to celebrate with their family and friends. We have already taken lots of bookings for Christmas Day, but there’s always space for more, and we are excited to be celebrating the start of a new year in our new home at the pub.

Once the tinsel is all packed away we can start to think about 2019 within the pub. We are keen to invite along some local breweries, which we seem lucky to have a wealth of, to showcase their beers in ‘meet the Brewer’ nights and perhaps one day we might be able to run a small beer festival.

Being foodies, our menu which can be seen on our website, is something of an eclectic mix, striking a balance of hearty pub classics, complemented by more exotic influences from around the world and of course at this time of year, some festive favourites.

We think simple things done well are often the best and we want to create a friendly atmosphere in attractive surroundings where locals, regulars and new customers can meet, eat, drink and relax. That for us, is what being a good pub in the heart of its community is all about.’’

At present The Parrot are building their team and have opportunities for friendly people both front and back of house who would like to join them, so if you’re looking for just a few hours or even a full-time career, they would love to hear from you. All vacancies can be seen on the website www.theparrotpub.co.uk and if there is something that suits please send an email to domonic@brunningandprice.co.uk with a CV (if you have one) letting him know what position you’re interested in.
